Fishing Time

LRSAC shore match tomorrow night at Hive (Burton Bradstock). fishing from 6.30pm until 10.30pm. This match is for the total longest length of fish.
To clarify the rules: Each angler will receive a score sheet and a tape measure (if you have one already please bring it, along with a pen). once you have caught a fish, take it to the lrsac member nearest you for them to measure and record the length on your sheet. (all fish to be measured from tip of nose to tip of tail, except Rays, which will be measured wing tip to wing tip). You are allowed to catch a maximum of 4 of each species (only your first 4 caught will count). The winner will be the person with the total longest length. i .e: dog fish 45cm, dogfish 37cm, dogfish 46cm, pout 24cm, ray 67cm, Ballan Wrasse 32cm would give a total length of 251cm.
Once the fish have been measured it can be released unless you want to take it home for eating
We have already taken some bait orders, and can bring your bait with us to the signing on at the hive beach car park. Rag, Peeler, Hermits, and all other frozen baits in stock.

Health Tip: Eat Healthy

(Health-Day News) -- Using your meal plate as a blueprint of what to eat, you can make sure you`re getting the right amount of nutritious foods.
The Harvard Medical School offers these guidelines for healthy eating:
Make sure half of your plate is filled with fruits and vegetables.
Designate one-fourth of your plate to include healthy whole grains, such as brown rice or whole wheat pasta.
Fill the remaining one-fourth of your plate with a healthy protein, such as lean meat, skinless poultry, fish or beans.

BALIK BURCU

Lessons in benevolence from the tale of two seas!!!

As you probably recall, the Dead Sea is really a Lake, not a sea. It’s so high in salt content that the human body can float easily. You can almost lie down and read a book! The salt in the Dead Sea is as high as 35% - almost 10 times the normal ocean water. And all that saltiness has meant that there is no life at all in the Dead Sea. No fish. No vegetation. No sea animals. Nothing lives in the Dead Sea.
And hence the name: Dead Sea.
While the Dead Sea has remained etched in my memory, I don't seem to recall learning about the Sea of Galilee in my school Geography lesson. So when I heard about the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea and the tale of the two seas - I was intrigued.
Turns out that the Sea of Galilee is just north of the Dead Sea. Both the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea receive their water from river Jordan. And yet, they are very, very different.
Unlike the Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee is pretty, resplendent with rich, colorful marine life. There are lots of plants. And lots of fish too. In fact, the Sea of Galilee is home to over twenty different types of fishes.
Same region, same source of water, and yet while one sea is full of life, the other is dead. How come?
Here’s apparently why. The River Jordan flows into the Sea of Galilee and then flows out. The water simply passes through the Sea of Galilee in and then out - and that keeps the sea healthy and vibrant, teeming with marine life.
But the Dead Sea is so far below the mean sea level, that it has no outlet. The water flows in from the river Jordan, but does not flow out. There are no outlet streams. It is estimated that over 7 million tons of water evaporate from the Dead Sea every day. Leaving it salty. Too full of minerals. And unfit for any marine life.
The Dead Sea takes water from the River Jordan, and holds it. It does not give.
Result? No life at all.
Think about it.
Life is not just about getting. Its about giving. We all need to be a bit like the Sea of Galilee.
We are fortunate to get wealth, knowledge, love and respect. But if we don't learn to give, we could all end up like the Dead Sea. The love and the respect, the wealth and the knowledge could all evaporate. Like the water in the Dead Sea.
If we get the Dead Sea mentality of merely taking in more water, more money, more everything the results can be disastrous.
Good idea to make sure that in the sea of your own life, you have outlets. Many outlets. For love and wealth - and everything else that you get in your life. Make sure you don't just get, you give too.
Open the taps. And you'll open the floodgates to happiness. Make that a habit. To share. To give.

Tell Johnson & Johnson

Our oceans are choking with plastic. Now, companies like Johnson & Johnson have unleashed “microbeads” -- tiny shards of plastic used as exfoliants in beauty products -- designed to be washed down the drain where they flow right past clean-up systems out to sea. These plastic pellets chemically attract and absorb toxins in the sewage, and are often mistaken for food by fish that gobble them up, allowing the pellets -- and the toxins along for the ride -- to work their way up the food chain. Many microbeads are so tiny that they show up in the bloodstreams of the animals that eat them, where they'll be lodged in the host until it dies. Tell Johnson & Johnson to remove microbeads from its products now!
